Memory drain and inability to open Internet Explorer

I recently started to receive error messages about my memory usage being high. I have looked at the processes on the task manager and the worst programs that seem to use the most memory appear to be iexplore.exe. I always sort the processes according to how much memory usage is being used and iexplore is always at the top and there are usually about five or six instances even if I'm only using one window. Also when I look at my main drive on my computer (C:) in the explore window it appears to be almost completely full as if my computer is loaded with all kinds of stuff. I've transferred so many files and folders to my external hard drive, flash drives, and anything else I can think of but I'm still having the problem. The other day I was using the computer and everything was working ok but suddenly I lost connection to the Internet and my network disappeared completely. There wasn't even anything to try to work with in the Network and Sharing Center. So I have no access to the Internet. I had signed up with a tech support company but everything has to be done over the phone. If I have internet connection they can take over my computer remotely to fix it. But this time I have no internet connection so I had to spend at least three hours on the phone with them and it really wore me out. also I'm not sure what they did but my computer will only open windows 7 in Safe Mode. Does anyone know how to stop that? I would much rather not have to deal with it that way.
GREAT NEWS!! I restored my registry to an earlier time and my network reappeared. Unfortunately I still can't open Internet Explorer. If anyone has any idea why that might be I would appreciate some help. But I wonder if my inability to connect to the internet has anything to do with the memory problems. Because of the memory problems I haven't been able to download even one pdf page from the internet. Its cause all kinds of other problems too. Help!!! What do I do about this memory drain. I don't have problems with svchost.exe or some of the other programs or system files that other people have had. I also have problems with the DHCP client and the DNS client. They don't start. When I try to start them I get a 1068 error message that says dependency service or group failed to start. However when I check those services they have started and are processing. I'm afraid I have totally ruined my computer. I REALLY NEED HELP!! I am not very tech savvy so any help needs to be in plain English. Any help would be appreciated beyond measure. Someone PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!ri

I'm not sure what other information might be needed. Please just let me know but REMEMBER I DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE INTERNET RIGHT NOW.

hi dswapp, hmmm, these issues don't sound good.
you say you don't have an internet connection? how are you posting here? do you have another computer your using? <BTW posting in Caps is considered as yelling, and bold Caps too. I like to use exclamation marks >
do you have a restore point you back back up to before these problems started? or better yet a Windows back-up Image before this started?

I'm not sure if I would allow someone I don't know to have remote access to my computer. I say this from a personal experience of a close friend that did that and the outcome was not good for her. As it turned out, the more they mucked-up her computer, the more money they made! Believe me, they took a lot of her money and only wrecked her computer.

I am a bit of a computer novice too, and have been helped here in the forum by some very nice peeps with much more knowledge then I will probably ever possess. So will leave any further comments to any others that might be better qualified as to how to go from here.
    Good Luck!

thanks for your advice. Actually I've used these guys twice before and they didn't okay job and luckily or not I paid a flat rate fee 42 years of technical support so I don't get charged every time they they help as for them doing messing up my computer that is a serious concern. It's very frustrating being so and knowledgeable about this. And actually I guess I no longer need any help because something they had done was making windows start in safe mode all the time so I restarted it and held the f8 key down and my computer is in a sous and the Asus part of the computer did something, it was almost as if It reinstalled windows because I lost all of my files.if I had known this was going to happen I would have transferred my files into my external hard drive now I run a data recovery program and I haven't checked yet to see if it work but I really hope it did. Fortunately I had to reinstall windows 7 a few months ago so I I might not have lost everything cuz I did transfer my information at that time. Thanks again for your advice and your concern. Its difficult to find a good computer technician could doesn't cost a fortune. Taking it to Best Buy Geek Squad costs quite a lot. come to think of it if anyone knows how to recover lost file I would appreciate some help. Thanks again

    your welcome dswapp.
you say you lost all of your files after it appeared that Windows 7 re-installed itself?
perhaps start a new thread with a different title such as 'lost files' or something and explain exactly what all had happened up to that point. this could be a very complex process and you may or may not be able to get your files back. you could do a google search with key search words ' sevenforums data recovery' or 'sevenforums lost files' or something to that affect. I definitely would not try anything on your own without the proper qualified help and try to follow any instructions exactly. Every situation can be and usually is different and anyone trying to help will need to have detailed information.

    Good luck,
