    Ram Recognition

I installed win 7 on my computer with no issues. I built an intel system. My wifes computer is an AMD 6000+ with 4 gig ram. I installed win 7 64 bit just as I did on my intel system only the AMD computer only recognizes 2 gig of ram. I flashed the very latest bios (Gigabyte board) and still only recognizes 2 gig. I even noticed when the bios scrolls through the boot up process I can see only 2 gig. Anyone have any clues. I saw on another forum that some are having that issue once they installed win 7, but others don't.

How much RAM your bios sees is irrespective of any operating system ever created. Unrelated issue entirely.

Are all sticks the same brand/type? Did you get matched pairs?

Some have to be fitted in pairs and in 1 + 3 slots, if using only 2 sticks in 4 available slots. Did you read the motherboard manual for correct way to install RAM?

This is what Dell/Compaq is for.

Yes to all your questions. How is Dell/Compaq involved? You bring up a good point regarding memory placement. I am going to double check the slots that they are installed in. Can't hurt to re-check.

They're not. Ya, good idea to check.
