Computer Performance dropped significantly within the past week

    Hi sevenforums,

Was wondering if you could be of any assistance. I'm a gamer, have had the same computer for a few years and all has been well. I know my setup is a little outdated but I havent had any issues until this last week.

I play WoW mostly and I used to be able to run multiple versions of the game (3 or 4) and I would have no issue and stick at 60 fps for the most part. Something happened last week sometime and now when I open 1 client I am at 60 fps, 2 clients 40 fps, and 3+ is unplayable. When I have 3 clients open my CPU usage is sitting at 80-85%.

Trying to think of everything I can, I ran disk cleanup, both of my anti virus/spyware softwares, opened up my computer and cleaned out all the crap, and still having the same issue.

just wondering if you guys think it's possible to go back to the way it was or it's just time to upgrade my computer. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I kind of suck at computer management, don't have any backups to restore to

Do you have any Restore Points?
It would be the quickest way to get you back the way things were in most cases.

You can try to look at the services and processes that are running when it is lagging, through Task Manager and Performance Monitor. Something is hogging your CPU cycles--sometimes it's easy to spot and other times not so easy.

yeah I'm a pretty big noob when it comes to stuff like this. Only thing that I can spot taking up a bunch of cycles is the WoW exe

Everything else seems negligible, but like I said I used to be able to run up to 5 or 6 clients before I experienced any fps drops
