Switching back to automatic management of paging file

2 months ago I migrated my OS from the original 500 Mb HDD to a 1Tb Samsung EVO 350 SSD, which I installed and setup with Samsung Magician Software with best durability setting.

A few days after install I started getting casual BSDs, varying in frequency from one every 3 days to 3 in a day, as well as difficulty in rebooting ("vanishing SSD syndrome").

I have managed to solve most of the rebooting problems by uninstalling Asus power management feature (which would surreptitiously reintroduce hybrid sleep at each reboot) and using the "slow reboot" process mainly described in Crucial forums and elsewhere. To be sure, I have also disabled RAPID (I hope to try it again later, once I will have an otherwise stable system).

However, I keep having Blue Screens occasionally, mostly when I have many windows opened (eg 25 chrome tabs + a couple of Excel windows, one or two MS Word files, a CAT Tool, DT Search, and so on) and I am working at full speed. Before crashing the PC starts getting sluggish for a few seconds, in a way that suggests a RAM insufficiently problem, despite 8 Gb of physical RAM.

Now I have tried to reset my virtual memory setting to "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" and now I did not have any crash for a couple of days.... If this is the solution, at this point I would be quite happy to trade a one or two years of SSD life for a stable system!

I will try to report the results of the experiment in a short while. In the mean time, I would welcome your reactions and advices.

My above solution was NOT correct: I have just had another crash and difficult reboot. I phoned Samsung assistance and I am now waiting for my replacement SSD.
(Also, of course the correct SSD model name is Samsung 840EVO 1Tb)

Samsung assistance sent me back the same defective SSD!!

I did not realize it at first, so I repeated the cloning process, installed and the "new" ssd did not boot!
After 3 attempts it managed to boot, I ran Magician and optimized the system, only to go to a blue screen within a couple of hours. Then I checked the S/N and discovered that it was still my old SSD!

The courier pick it up at my place near Rome on Tuesday pm, it went to the Netherlands, and came back on Friday morning. I wonder if they had the time to even test it.

They will be closed until Monday, so I am trying a clean install now. Until now all is proceeding well, and I am afraid that I might ruin everything by running Magician again...

I think you have a lot of company. Complaints about Samsung customer service are very common.

Common enough for me to say no to buying any of their SSD products. It's only a small chance you'd need customer service, but if you do...................................
