Random slow ten minutes when booting up computer

    Hi,

Last few days my computer has been extremely slow on startup. On startup it gets to desktop fine and everything runs at normal speed for about a minute and then as if a programme turns on taking up huge memory (on task manager processes tab it shows nothing) everything runs super slow for about 10 minutes and then it goes back to normal speed again. I've run AVG, Malwarebytes, Spybot S & D and SuperAntiSpyware to try and get rid of the potential virus but it is still here.

    any help is appreciated!

I would try a clean boot to see if it helps, if it does you can then re enable bit by bit until you find the offending issue

During those 10 minutes of sluggish activity/responsiveness, right click on task bar, run task manager, click on the "cpu" tab to sort processes by which is using highest percentage of cpu power (highest to lowest), and you will then know what is eating up your cpu power (i.e, Windows update downloads, a defrag, and a virus scan all at the same time, etc...)
