Wiped Out Environment Variables Broke my Explorer Large Icons

I erased by mistake the "PATH" environment variables and I assume this broke my icons in every single folder. The large icons doesn't work, but instead just produce blank invisible square as shown on the pic below.

    Here's what I tried and didn't help:
    • Assigning the correct PATH variables
    • Delete the icons cache/reboot
    • No system restore point

Also the desktop background can't be set.

    Thank you in advance!

Do a System Restore to before you did this, should fix the problem.

Is their any reason you don't have Restore Points?

Take a look at this tutorial by Brink.

    Yes I did,
I did this more than 20 times now, trying to rebuild the cache.

The only other thing I can think of is a Repair Install.

Yes this is my last resort. I'll for sure will make a backup of My Docs and my desktop, but will this wipe out my installed software and user settings/files?

    I didn't drop the case.
I would like to thank all of you for your help. I tried everything possible, but nothing really worked.

After few months in waiting and unsuccessful tries of tens of different options I did a repair: Repair Install

This did fix my issues and kept all my files in tact. My C was 24.7 GB free before and after the repair.

    Thanks again!
