I don't know what happened it was fine...about 1 month ago when I started up my laptop it said Windows can't start up because of a change of devices....and I don't remember what else it said

Before I go on...is the problem that I can't set a paging file is from the internal drive is not working??

I'm asking because I don't want to just solve the problem and then forget about it....I want to learn something at least.

I really don't know what to expect when using a external drive only with Windows 7 on it.
    I have never tired.

Was Windows 7 installed on this external drive using another computer?
Did it come out of another computer with Windows already installed along with other programs?

Does the internal drive show in the BIOS when you connect it up?

Golden does this look correct from Hadoor log?

    Windows Product Key: *****-*****-TMVMJ-BBMRX-3MBMV

The installed Key is the Default Key for windows 7 Ultimate - and can never be legally activated to the best of my memory.

It looks like an Upgrade licence that has not yet been activated:

Nah - it's the Default Key, Colin... and can never be activated.

As far as I know it's not possible to boot Windows 7 from external media (at least within the license terms)
