The Temp folder is on a drive that is full or is inaccessible -

    Hello,

I'm having problems every time I try to install some programs like Skype or a Visual Studio update. and I just figured out that I also have it when I try to uninstall ANY program.

The Temp folder is on a drive that is full or is inaccessible. Free up space on the drive or verify that you have write permission on the Temp folder.
There's a Visual Studio update that also adds this to its installation log file:

[20CC:20D0][2015-01-26T00:04:19]: Error 0x80070660: Failed to run maintanance mode for MSI package.
[20CC:20D0][2015-01-26T00:04:19]: Error 0x80070660: Failed to execute MSI package.
[20EC:20F0][2015-01-26T00:04:19]: Error 0x80070660: Failed to configure per-machine MSI package.

There's no space problem: I have plenty of free space. I found in other threads that this might be a UAC problem but I tried changing it without luck.

I checked the permissions to the %temp% and C:\windows\temp folders and they seem to be ok: and I'm actually trying to run the install files as Administrator.

Any ideas of what might be causing this?

    Thanks in advance,

What is the %temp% variable set to? Should be:

    C:\Users\your-account-name\AppData\Local\Temp

    Thanks for replying.
Yes, that's the value it's set to.

Hi, I'm having the issue the person was having. The Temp folder is on a drive that is full or is inaccessible. Free up space on the drive or verify that you have write permission on the Temp folder. I can't figure this out. Any advice would be appreciated

Hi meg0486, welcome to the Forum.

Have you tried running Windows Disc Cleanup. This should be found in Control Panel. Right Click on it select Run as Administrator. When it has finished, reboot the computer as is does not delete files until the computer shuts down.

In Vista, you couldn't write to the %TEMP% folder if User Account Control was off. This may also be the case in Windows 7. Go to Control Panel / User Accounts, and look around for User Account Control. If it is off, turn it on, then try again to install (or uninstall) something.

Dumb stuff: Check that the directory exists.
