Is there a way to see, when windows will go to sleep?

    Hi,

I am not sure, if the question in topic name is clear. Let me explain:

In the power options, I set the time, after which my computer will go to sleep (when idle).
That means, if I stop doing anything, there must be a timer running to detect when the time I have set in the power option is reached. When - in the meantime - I do something at the computer, the timer must be reset. My question is now: Is there a way to read and display this timer?

While this is not exactly what you might be looking for, it is a way of shutting the computer down after a certain time.

MCE Standby Tool, when installed and left running on your PC, has a "Windows idle" tab/display which shows:

One or more program(s) require(s) the system: Yes or No
One or more program(s) require(s) the display: Yes or No

Time since last user input: X:XX:XX h:m:s
Time remaining until suspend: X:XX:XX h:m:s
    System idleness: XX %

There's also a button called "Show sleep blockers" there as well. It's intended for Media Center Edition PCs but I have it running on my W7HP x64 system (for a different reason than yours).

It's free so you might want to take a look. BTW the screenshots on this page are out-of-date, and if you apply to W7 make sure you choose the right download file.
