Windows 7 Pro; can pagefile.sys be set to equal RAM or let W7 do it?

Windows 7 Pro; can pagefile.sys be set to equal RAM or let Windows handle sizing? In two computers 16GB mem, in one 8GB. Will there be a benefit to setting pagefile.sys to 16GB or less? In the 3rd - set to 8GB?

I wouldn't think there be much advantage to fiddling with it unless these are smallish drives and you are getting crowded.

You could of course manually limit it to say 1 or 2 GB, but I don't know that you'd ever notice any performance difference from doing nothing at all. Many who discover they can change it can't resist doing so regardless.

I found that just letting Windows 7 manage all memory works for me.
It's very hard or impossible to out smart Windows 7 when it comes to memory.
If you set things so Window 7 manages memory it will only use the pagefile that is needed and no more.

Unless you have space constraints (like on a small SSD), I would leave it alone. Eles, 1GB or 2GB is ample because you never get any real page faults.

Several sources pretty much the same thing; I'm leaving well enough alone. Is there a way to mark this solved?
