Windows will not stay sleep

Sorry if this is the wrong forum but wasn't sure where this fit. At any rate, whenever I attempt to put my machine to sleep it wakes back up almost immediately, whether I try manually to make it sleep or auto timer. I have tried:

-updating the video driver and chipset
-checking powercfg -request (nothing is keeping it awake)
-making sure that wake timers in advanced power settings are disabled
-making sure the multimedia settings are set to to allow computer to sleep when sharing media

I am not sure where else to go with this. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

can you try this and see and report please . —
open CMD , ( Start key + R key and type CMD and hit Enter .
in the CMD window , type this ,
powercfg –lastwake
and hit enter .
this would tell you —
what event/device woke up your Windows from its sleep state !

i guess a scheduled task gets registered in your Task Scheduler , which is responsible .
try this ,
Open Task Scheduler by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-clicking Task Scheduler.? If you’re prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
the task scheduler would open up , and look for all the tasks registered , and especially check there parameters .look for any thing where a setting says , ” wake the computer up from sleep to complete the task . ” thats the culprit .kill it and it should resolve the problem .also make sure , you dont have any tasks set up in any of other softwares like AV , which would wake up the PC .like wake up the pc for routine scans or updates ..tell if you need more help ….

Thanks for the response.

When I run the lastwake command I get "Wake History Count - 0"

There are no tasks scheduled to run during the time that I manually put the machine to sleep when I check the scheduler

Is there nothing underneath Wake History Count 0?

Also have you checked wake on lan is disabled on your network card? Forgot to mention this...

Also what USB devices do you have plugged in

& Is your BIOS and drivers all up to date?

Nothing located under Wake Hist Count. Wake on lan disabled. Mouse, keyboard and scanner plugged in. BIOS and drivers up to date

Now let’s perform a Clean Boot to test the issue.

Clean Boot

========

1. Click Start, type "MSCONFIG" (without the quotations) in the Search Bar and Press "Enter" to start the System Configuration Utility.

Note: Please click Continue if the "User Account Control" window pops up.

2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).

3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK".

4. Restart the computer and test the issue.

Note: Clean Boot is a troubleshooting step. If some programs have been disabled, we can re-enable them later. If you see the System Configuration Utility, check the box of "Don't show this message" and then click "OK".

Please test this issue in the Clean Boot environment. if the issue disappears, we can use a 50/50 approach to quickly narrow down which entry is causing the issue.
