Raid 5 lost D:/ assignment and now Windows 7 doesn't see format

I plugged an external harddrive that I had been using with my service laptop to check some files and the disaster began. It showed up as drive letters D: and G:. The problem is that my AMD 2+1 RAID 5 was letter D: Turned off computer. Unplugged external drive. Turned on computer and the raid is missing from My Computer. Did a System Restore to the night before this happened. No luck.

My NAS box backup drive was corrupted and I hadn't replaced it before this happened. Disk Management shows the Raid 5 as unallocated and wrong size. I set it as a Simple Drive and Letter D: expanded it to the correct size. But, it does not recognize the format. It is requiring formatting. The three drives are fine. I have checked them. With many tools. I am running the latest drivers from Asus. I ran a data recovery software. It got all of my files. All 2.5 TB of them. They are on an external drive. Recovering the files is nice. But, as they are not in their proper folders, most are useless now. Basically, all the programs are gone. Taxes for example.

Does anyone know how to get Windows 7 to recognize the format of the AMD 2+1Raid 5 array?????

Hi Dloyec and welcome to the forum.

Be advise that starting another thread on the same computer with the same problem will not help but only confuse things.

You have a strange problem that someone with the proper knowledge hasn't dropped by yet.

Just hang in there. If it get to be to long of time I will go to the ranch and try to find someone to help.
