Acer 5749 Series Laptop Problem: Performance and Problems Logging Off

I have an Acer 5749 Series laptop that is having problems with performance and is hanging up upon logging off and opening the start menu. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello again Jesse mate have you tried the usual that I always suggest -
    https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html
https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html < if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2 (safe mode)

    if no go then

    http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/
ADW download from bleeping computer delete any rubbish found with the malware scans
(NB If one is running Kaspersky security it may rant about ADW - just ignore it or disable Kaspersky while the ADW is being used)

It's running a little better today. Must have been just a glitch in the software. But, I will be sure to use what you have suggested.

It is just as well Jesse the sfc and chkdsk will find any system issues correct them if it can and doesn't take that much time to do.

It also doesn't really matter how many times you use it and as a matter of course if my own machine are showing signs of being under the weather they are the first things I run. Plus I always advise others to do the same as I like to eliminate stuff using the simplest things first - a lot of folks dive in and try the heavy duty scans etc when it probably isn't necessary.

Oh don't forget the tutorial too Optimize Windows 7
