Hp Pavilion dv7 Laptop not Working after corrupt registry

Hi everyone. I'm a girl who is semi Computer literate and by that i just mean that I've edited keys or values in my registry (using someone else s instructions) with great success. Recently i have been bugged by ads INCESSANTLY (it got to the point where every click would open up a new window with an ad in it). All my previous fixes would not get rid of them, so i finally decided to try downloading programs that could fix it for me. The main 2 that i downloaded were:
    Spy Hunter &
    Malwarebytes.

Spyhunter seemed to be able to find all the actual places that the filthy ads had infiltrated and i got really excited.... Until i found out that you have to pay to actually fix your computer for you. SO i decided to try and not be lazy and just follow the paths illustrated and go ahead and delete those folders/registry keys myself. Now i'm on the brink of weeping because almost everything is refusing to work. Nothing is installing/ uninstalling, my wifi is showing permanent limited access but all our other pcs/phones have perfect network, some programs refuse to open AT ALL and i really have no idea what to do. I even tried to download a registry repair off the internet which had step by step instructions on how to reinstall windows installer which i did... but to no avail. Worst of all is that my HP assist wont work so it cant even tell me where the problem is. i am getting dizzy just thinking about it, please if anyone could help i would be very much obliged and i'll never touch my registry again!!! (also, please tell me an effective way to get rid of extremely stubborn ads). I came here and i saw an upload by User Roderunner on how to do a non-destructive total re-install of windows. Is that the only option that i have left? A re-install of my Windows 7?
