    msconfig not "holding" changes

    msconfig not "holding" changes
Recently, I had to go into Avast to re-TurnOff Grimefighter, Software Updater, and so on.
I'm wondering if Grimefighter fiddled before I caught it.
msconfig will not hold the changes I made, even though I do the enable this, enable that, enable the other, Apply, Ok, restart. The next few retries & successive sessions, I find the same stuff still unchecked in Services area.

Grimefighter probable boots with Avast anti virus and that is why it keep starting.

Avast seems to have turned into nothing but a bag of worms.

I'm no Avast expert but in the last couple of weeks their have been many problems with Avast on this forum.

No kidding! I'm an Avast user, and Avira user. I would like to see all those SwissSecurityKnives have an optIN only menu system. If I want something on, I turn it on, not that I haveto: afterupdatereallyfastgointomenusystemandturnoff what I don't want.

I think it's best to not have the optional tools installed that you don't want.
See this post for how to install/uninstall Avast tools and options:

    Roland, no I'm not kidding.

How many anti virus programs do you have on your computer?

2, Avast and Avira. One has real time shields on, both run non-overlapping scheduled scans. I did not bother with Comodo antivirus. Only 2 opinions needed :)

I recommend one anti virus program on one computer at one time.

There is a good chance one anti virus program will argue with the other anti virus program.

    Hi:

A tiny crumb of "food for thought" about the use of msconfig as a startup manager:

Msconfig Is Not A Startup Manager

Your call on your own system, of course.

    Cheers,
