    Corrupt "utc.app.json" & "telemetry.ASM-WindowsDefault.json"

    Hi,
Found corrupted files running SFC /scannow:
    "utc.app.json" & "telemetry.ASM-WindowsDefault.json"

Used your excellent Extract Files from Windows 7 Installation DVD tutorial but am unable to locate either "utc.app.json" or "telemetry.ASM-WindowsDefault.json" in "E:\sources\install.wim\4\Windows\System32\". A search of "C:\Windows\System32" for utc does indicate file UtcResources.dll & also a search for telemetry found file "Program-Telemetry" in "C:\Windows\System32\winevt\Logs" (an entry in the event log I assume?).
Not sure if either file is located in Windows\System32 but just scratching for info here.

So, did a Google search on Cannot repair member file [l:24{12}]"utc.app.json" & found links suggesting there was a problem with Microsoft Update KB3022345. Which successfully installed on my computer on 5/10/15.
Suggested fix is at The Tech Cookbook = Windows 7 update (KB3022345) causing corrupt files

However it seems to me Microsoft should be creating the fix for these updates, not The Tech Cookbook

    SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the above corruptions only, do not run these fixes if you do not have these corrupt files.

Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
Download SFCFix.zip from one of the below links, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip – do not rename it.
If you have a x64 machine download this version: SFCFix (x64 fix)
If you have a x86 machine download this version: SFCFix (x86 fix)
Save any open documents and close all open windows.
On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
SFCFix will now process the script.
Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
The results should return as Fixed:
Is this the proper way to go about fixing
Perhaps uninstalling KB3022345 is a better idea.
Since this is my goto place for Win7 related issues was hoping someone here could shed some light.

    Thanks,
    richie

    I uninstalled KB3022345 & sfc /scannow is all good

Sorry for all the verbiage & for wasting anyone's time.

This update enables the Diagnostics Tracking Service. Not sure what Diag it's is Tracking but unless anyone knows of a reason to keep this update guess I will leave it Hidden.

    Thanks,
    richie

Windows Update is guilty of the problem
Sometimes in May (to prepare for Windows 10) they provided KB3022345 which installed a telemetry (phone home) function. The files installed were wrongly detected as corrupt by SFC (probably a coding error). They delivered a corrected update early June KB3068708 but apparently never removed the bad version! See https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3022345
"This update has been replaced by the latest update for customer experience and diagnostic telemetry that was first released on June 2, 2015. To obtain the update, see 3068708 Update for customer experience and diagnostic telemetry."
"this update (the original one) contains the following files that are occasionally updated by the Diagnostic Tracking Service:
    telemetry.ASM-WindowsDefault.json
    utc.app.json
The two files are marked as static files in the update. When an advanced user runs the System File Checker Tool (sfc.exe), the files are unintentionally flagged as corrupted. There is no impact or actual corruption on a device running this update, and a later service update will resolve this issue."

Even funnier (well...) this is probably what has blocked the installation of Windows 10 on my twomachines! for 8 days now!
Go to "installed updates" and uninstall KB3022345,that should do the job! Good luck

I think they did remove the bad version. It is no longer hidden nor is it installed.

It's not in the system32 folder, you will find the files in the C:\Windows\winsxs\ folder. I have had the same problem.

Have there been any adverse effects after uninstalling KB3022345?

I keep KB3022345 off of my system without any problems.
I don't want anything that has anything to do with W-10.
