How to clean old Windows Updates cache, and...?

I'm not having any problems with Windows Update, but I read that Win stores old installed updates-

"Exactly" how do I clean this Huge cache, and how long to wait after a Win Update (Win just released out of cycle security... updates, that I installed yesterday!)?

You need to run Disc Clean up. I actually have it as a short cut on my desk top.

To find it open Computer & click on Local Disc C, then open Windows, scroll down to System 32, click on that & scroll down to cleanmgr, right click on that & put mouse pointer on Send to & select Desk top (create short cut). That should put it on the desk top.

Use Run as Administrator when running it so it will pick up all the old Updates. To Run as Administrator right click on the Clean up icon & select Run as Administrator.

I run it about once or twice a month, but I usually leave it for a week after getting a heap of updates.

The other thing to keep in mind is that removal of a lot of old files etc. does not occur until you shut down the computer & you may notice a notification on shut down that this occurring.

This selected 1.46gb for delete, but Win updates are still there all the way back to 2012 (I've done several
    Repair installs)?
I'll now try Ranger4's cleanmgr procedure...?

    It's the same procedure.

Usually, that means that you will not be able to clean it yet then.

Just because a update is old does not make it Outdated.
Disk clean only cleans updates that are no longer needed. (outdated)
Normally that mean a update that has been replace by another update.

scottls59901, the updates will still be shown right back to when you first installed your current Windows 7 operating system. As far as I know Disc Clean Up does not remove the update listing only the left over means of installing it.
