svchost is consuming 60% of Ram....

On start up,70% of ram is being used by my system. From taskmanager,i came to know that one of svchost processes(svchost processes->go to services->windows update) is comsuming app.1.5gb of ram.I came to know that windows update service "WUAUSERV" is causing trouble.I made startup type disabled and made service stopped.
Upon startup, this service is automatically started(this time startup type is manual) making me to repeat same thing. Is there any way to permanently disable this service so that it wont bother me again?

Hi,
Well you'd need to change your windows update settings temporarily until it stops,
You should be able to switch to these settings,
Go to windows update window,
On the top left click on change settings,
After you change the settings and Save changes
Restart your computer.
Click Start and Restart.

thanks mr thrashzone, but i got frustated and changed these setting to "never check for updates" before starting my thread(coz of RAM memory). All i have mentioned in the thread is after changing these settings....what i have done before starting this thread is...
1.selected to never check for updates in windows update.
2.Disabled windows update service from list of services(start up type disabled)
Upon system restart this option is automatically changed to startup type "Manual" without my interference.
Did u get it mr thrashzone?

dllhost.exe - many instances and consuming all CPU/RAM?!
Hi, I've googled and tried many suggestions, but not making any progress. I've noted in the past few days/weeks, my computer is running MUCH more slowly. Lagging, etc. Opened up Task Manager, and noticed dllhost.exe - about 10-15 times listed, and with constant memory consumption. At times,...

Is there a less time consuming way to do this?
What I'm doing is making room on what is now an external hard drive (used to be C drive on my old computer). I've already transferred 11 gig of download files I want to keep, to a flash drive. It took 5 hours to do it. The point here is, make room for a backup of the Win 7 computer on the external...

SVCHost Consuming 100% CPU
My PC has started running very slowly and I have narrowed this down to SVCHost running at 100% cpu in the task manager. Using Process Explorer I can see that this process is hosting Power, PlugnPlay and DCOMLaunch services. I have run several anti-virus applications including malwarebytes and...

svchost.exe consuming ~200MB RAM
I find that one instance of svchost.exe consistently consumes around 200MB of RAM. I find this to be a problem at times as I do a lot of memory intensive work including Photoshop, etc. I've attached a screenshot showing the services attached to this particular process. Any idea which of these...
