Yeah, and as a poor typist, I'm well aware of this! Mine seemed to get cris-LOST though! But lucky I had it in clipboard from the night before still!
Sure, Jack, of course I can: How to Do a Clean Install with an Upgrade Windows 7 Version, and I used Opion Four (4).
I'm confused by your question, so it's likely that you don't fully understand or remember the steps I went through (understandably, as there's a LOT of thoughts/text in this thread!) OR ELSE I might be just not clearly looking at it from the right perspective (I'm quite tired and the world seems to be doing all it can do to crash down on me lately!)
I'll assume the former is the only one that I can sanely answer presently. I basically decided that preforming a Clean Install on a new drive of the same version of Windows 7 was my best bet, (I think I payed about: $120/3 = $40 + tax per use of each Family Pack license (had to pay in advance of course!) I'll working on the drivers/updates/application reinstalls, etc when get a chance. The Product Key I retrieved from the ORIGINAL WINDOWS install, which I though I preformed (almost positive) was a unactivatable bulk type that is activated prior to installation I suppose normally (not OEM). But the point is that when I saw that and tried a few things, then I started typing the key into "Bing.com" and three letters in the dropdown-box displayed like 5-10 options that all included "my" old Product Key! So, whatever some hack might work, but it seemed unlikely that I could do anything legally. So I decided to push the edges a little bit and used the Family Pack "UPGRADE" for the otherwise exact same version I had, and on a fresh HDD. The only trick part to it is how to get an "upgrade" to install without a previous version of windows on the dive I'm installing to. It's unusable and will be formatted, but it doesn't know that! So I used option FOUR in the above tutorial. Option one may have worked, but I like that windows DID see I had some Windows install before I preformed the second part, an "Upgrade" install (or In-place Upgrade Install), which writes over the Clean install I first made without entera Product Key yet. Then I entered the Product key after the second install displaces the first, and I activated using the single Product key that comes with Family Packs and it activated, no questions like I would normally get having me call MS to get an activation code for the FamPak! Then I connected to the net and tried to validate the activation and it said it couldn't do so, suggested trying tool XYZ. I chose not to, and called MS and they fixed it from their-end. Now windows is registered under genuine activation, where it can check up on my H/W S/Ns and compare them to my ProdKey/ID. Doe that clarify in a brief way what I did? Ask any questions you like!
Yep!
Fine by me...Problem is that I'm going to connect to the webpage before preforming a single update or working on any security measures yet! I can remove several USB flash drives I have plugged into this one system that will not release them, and I can't afford data loss! So transfer is not a viable option, and I didn't get any real network working yet either so I'll have to D/L the exe file from that computer...completely naked o the web, then upload it the same way! So, while I do owe you as I do many people in here, more than just 'one' for helping me, I'm going to go ahead and cash-in on one of my debts to you! K? J/K!
The results to the LOG will be added to this post in a minute...then anyone else that reads this, I have to go see someone important at the moment, but I'll reply to whatever you want and I'm backlogged on PMs and so forth, so I will not forget - i promise!:)
Added LOG you requested from the FamPak Install:
