Hi Thrash,

I was finally able to access the internal hard drive via my docking station. Everything has been backed up onto my other external HHD or deleted. It took man hours but it's done.

Now onto the next step with a clean install.

Thanks so much.

Hi Thrash,

Following up from all our discussions. Did a clean install, but too many corrupted files including several failed updates. Did a sfc /scannow and it couldn't fix the issues. Also checked the cbs log and there were several errors. Also ran the Windows Repair update but to no avail.

The computer is back to where I had left off ... sitting at Windows logo and not starting. Conclusion is the hard drive must have failed or was failing.

I know you had suggested to replace the hard drive before I attempted to re-install Win7. I figured since I was able to extract my data it was fine. Not!

So now I will replace the hard drive. I'll look at upgrading to an SSD.

Best,

Hi Thrash,

Thanks for the recommendation.

Can the 2.5" fit into the existing slot of 3.5". Is there a spacer to take up the excess space?

No tray in my hard drive slot.

Your welcome
I do have several Crucial ssd's I used the mx100 series but the bx100's are better just a slight less gb than the mx series has but reads and writes are a bit faster on the bx

Hi Trash,

I'll probably need 500 GBS. Price range is $208.00 and up plus tax of 13% in Ontario.

Thanks,
