Software to automatically shut down computers at a certain time of day

    Hello~~~

I'm an energy-conscious student currently in High School, and I would like to give our school's computers the ability to automatically shut off after 3 PM. The control panel is disabled, and my home PC uses Linux, so I don't know if or how to enable this feature if it is provided. If not, I would like to find or develop a program that can do so. Any tips would be welcome. Thank you!

The easiest way is to use scheduled tasks. Simply create a new task to be run at the designated time and as the action invoke the shutdown command to power off the computer
That will require administrator permission to setup the task however, but just once.

Sounds simple enough. I'm guessing Windows recognizes teachers, staff, and the principal as administrators? I'm sure it depends on the place, of course, but if I simply need to do it one time it shouldn't be a problem.

    Muchas gracious :)

    My suggestion is simple.
Do nothing to the school computers.
If the administrators of your school computers want such a thing done they will do it.

Run your idea by your school administrators and find out what they think of such a idea.
