PC isnīt using full RAM capacity

    Hello,

My computer was always a bit slow, it didnīt bother me at first but recently itīs gotten worse.
Itīs very slow even when I just watch YouTube videos and a couple of times when I had to many tabs open it gave me Bluescreen

So I checked the performance tab on the Task manager and even though I have 16GB RAM installed it only uses 2-3GB max. while the CPU usage is around 100%

I checked and my RAM is fine, its pluged in properly and gets recognized by the BIOS, I checked msconfig, I tried making the cache for physical memory bigger but it still stays the same.

I donīt know what else I can do.
I donīt want to mess with the BIOS too much out of fear I might break something while adjusting the voltage or whatever

If one you could help me that would be great

    Thank you in advance

Welcome to the forum. Its not clear what your saying the cpu being 100% is it working on something and not lack of memory doe sit show in windows you have 16 gig ok if you only have a few things open then it may only need to use 3gb

    Thank you
I mean that as soon as I start any programm the CPU-Usage goes instantly to 100% while the physical memory stays at 3GB usage when I try to play games they lag and stutter because the PC doesnt use the RAM and mainly uses the CPU but thats not enough

The cpu has nothing to do with the ram unless its using it to swap to disk. What is using all the cpu and what is the disk usage you can see it in taskmanager and sort by cpu so we can see whats using it

There is no real relationship between CPU usage and memory usage. Any relationship that might seem apparent is simply coincidence.

The system memory manager assigns memory according to need and availability. In your case more memory isn't being used because it isn't needed. You are having problems because of the high CPU usage, not because it isn't using enough memory.

Not sure if you're using a laptop or a desktop, I'd hope you're on a desktop because this is an easy fix at not a ton of money. Ram does help the system but the cpu does more work. If you're trying to play newer games on a budget you can get 6 or 8 core CPUs under $200. You'll certainly notice a change then if you're currently operating with 2 or 4.

Graphics cards are getting more powerful and less expensive too so throw one, or two, of those in too.

Graphics cards are getting less expensive ???

That`s the funniest thing I`ve ever heard, what planet are you living on ? :)

    6 or 8 Core Intel cpu`s under $200

The OP has 16 GB of memory and a 3570K and a 660 Ti, he should not be having any issues gaming at all.

Erik, how old is your install, maybe it`s time for a fresh clean install :)

And Welcome to Seven Forums :)

I would recommend making sure your system has these settings.

    -proxy-settings.png

I checked and the settings are all like the screenshots

Iīm using a desktop PC and I think its been maybe 6 months since I reinstalled everything

I honestly thought that the CPU was trying to do all the work but apparently I was wrong, but that still doesnt explain why everything is lagging while the are only 3 GB of RAM being used

Are you positive that you have 64 bit Windows? 32 bit will only use 3 GB of memory, no matter what you do.
