Windows 7: PC Tweaking and Speed Testing

Hey Guys,

I want to tweak my PC because I don't think its running at its full potential. I'm after some tweaking help links or threads and maybe some software links and speedtest links or software. Can anyone provide me with any info atall on how to generate more speed from a PC...?

Hi and welcome. Sounds like you want to overclock. Lots of reading to learn and to be able to weigh the advantages against the concerns is required. Google will have plenty of info for you specific to your motherboard, cpu and ram if you would like to learn.

I know pretty much the basics and a bit more but indepth is way out of my league. I do need to learn more about the workings and configuration of PC's.

I will use google but just didn't know if there where recommended links or posts in the forums that would put me right.

also you need to know what hardware you have...

All I know is what is in my Sytem Specs section of the members account on here.

No one ever asked. in what way do you think your computer needs to be tweaked? for games, for internet, for opening apps? why do you think it needs to be tweaked?

Because I build websites for a living using XHTML 1.0 Strict DOCTYPES and CSS 2.1 and want something that is quick at opening and running apps and gives me good speeds on creating websites as regards to using whats required for building and maintaining websites and I also run my servers from my desktop for my UK based hosting company and do most things remotely.

I have some knowledge of PC's and how to configure them but my main area is development and server management. Hope this helps. Maybe it has nothing to do with PC Tweaking atall. Just wondered thats all.

Well, being a programmer myself, i find that the easiest way to develop/build new pages/scripts are with having a powerful laptop/desktop. Maybe just upgrade ram/processor. But you can also over clock - as stated above. My laptop is perfectly good at opening web-development app's and running rigorous scripts.

Check out RightMark CPU Clock Utility. I find it's the easiest way to overclock out there...

Just Google how to overclock using that software, its really easy to use and all.
