Well I uninstalled kaspersky, seems a little better, still big cpu usage jumps when I open even windows explorer from 1% to 55% for a second, don't know if that is normal or not. I noticed that svhost.exe spikes when I open it though, what should I do next?

That would be normal. Gotta spike the CPU to do something.

I see, well I notice that my internet speed seems to be upa bit. Kaspersky was great though, what would be the best thing to replace it with?

Edit: Holy crap the speed of everything is so much better, things are opening and closing super fast... wow O_O Thanks man, any suggestions on what I can get for protection and still maintain this performance?

Agreed!

As long as the CPU usage isn't staying at the 85% you mentioned in the OP, then you should be OK.

My spikes shown here are opening task manager and an explorer window; nothing to worry about unless, as i say, it's getting pinned there.

MSE is the way forward, it's free too!

Another thing that I experienced before was a 3-4 second run of 100% usage after I woke my laptop up from sleep, I don't know if it will do the same now as I haven't tested it. Is it normal, or should that not happen?

And what would you'll recommend for protection that is good but will not slow my computer at all?

That also sounds normal, MSE is my suggestion for protection (see my previous post).

I bet it had to do with Kaspersky I had problems with it also my IE would take 5-10 seconds to load up with 100% CPU..

The the security protection I use is Norton Internet Security 2010 it is fast I have never notice a decrease in speed..a free one is MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) I like it alot..use it on my old XP computer..with Windows Firewall..

EDIT: Glad we can Help...(and again to I'm to slow..lol)
