Forget all your if’s… You’re taking this way too seriously! The guy ask for an opinion on good registry cleaners, he didn’t ask for your BS on system management... Just Chill

Additionally your thoughts on how Corporate America manages workstations is not only ignorant but wasn't ask for. So say good night and move on, this is just a helpful forum!

7 is a very good OS, but many of us mess around with progs without a VM, if you think a reg cleaner is absolutely necessary, I'd suggest Tuneup Utilities 2010 - with a little tweaking it's just great! It has never, I repeat never- let me down. Unlike Revo, Ccleaner and the rest. I've tested them, more or less all of them.

Tune Up Utilties and the rest do absolutely nothing. They waste money. Use Disk Cleanup instead.

Really? If you already have all the programs, applications and media you need, installed on a clean HDD, running an OS with no factory bloatware , and you have never uninstalled anything, why would you need to clean the registry?
You're right at this point as the registry doesn't get messed up if nothing happen to move....
BUT things are not like that really, you do have to do some cleaning 'cause you might use updates and clean will delete old updates, applications and leave in the registry some traces/old Keys...ex: silverlight, old decrompressed pathes, and so on....so a gentle clean is always welcome

You are right, maybe I was a bit too abrasive. I was just trying to point out that a little planning when setting up a new computer or fresh install of windows helps immensely.

It's been my experience that registry cleaners in general either don't do enough (having little or no effect) or they do a little too much, which is really bad. No registry cleaner is going to have the same effect that reinstalling windows and all programs does. When that isn't an option, I use NTRegopt. There are probably dozens of reg cleaners that do a better job but none of them are smaller (~480KB to download)

I wouldn't classify NTRegOpt as a registry cleaner. It compresses the registry reducing wasted space without cleaning anything.

I use both Ccleaner and Advance System Care. Never had an issue with either of them. The important thing to remember is to use the back up feature when running either program.
Iobit advanced system care is a really good one i was using on XP.

But be aware when cleaning the system services to don't disable registry keys you might think useless. Could be quite a pain crashing down the machine.

I leave that option unchecked prior to scanning.

Umm, no offence , but I've seen a marked improvement in performance, period. When my pc was bogged down with invalid reg entries (Also, you have to keep an eye out for reg entries that are being cleaned-no matter what the cleaner is)... it also determines the need for defrag. Win defrag takes up so much time that it's useless for me . Utilities for windows are just that- utilities, not a perfect solution to all problems. One has to use one's common sense, and other experts' for that matter .

    Peace !

I think every forum has it's own policy regarding how many idle hours can a user be logged on for. Admin can clear that up. I don't think it's TU 2010. I also have it.
