Windows 7 and web browsing very slow.

    Hey guys.

I bought and installed my Windows 7 like 1 month ago and it was working like a charm untill it started to get very slow like a week ago.

It's acting very strangely. From pressing the boot button to actually work on the desktop it takes about 5minutes. I have removed all unnecessary services and programs from startup. My web browsing is also very slow. It took me 50 seconds to open this page. Sometimes it doesn't open the pages at all. I have a 4/1 cable modem. It works well on games, no performance loss nor ping loss.

The thing is, that it worked perfectly untill it suddenly started to get slow. I'm not sure but it might be because AVG detected a file called "sys16.dll" a trojan and I deleted it. I don't remember if it was slow before that.

Yesterday I ran Registry Winner too, it found about 300 errors and fixed them but it's still very slow.

I used to have AVG as my anti-virus but I deleted it too 4 days ago and bought the Avast Pro-version and ran it and it found 1 trojan, deleted it but it didn't fix the problem.

I also have ran SpyBot Search and Destroy which found nothing.

I have 170gb of free diskspace.
    Processor Intel Celeron 420 @ 1.6GHz
    GPU Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT
    Memory 3gb of DDR2 memory
    Motherboard ASUSTek Leonite2

If you need any additional information, please post and ask.

    Thanks, Zond

Go to device manager and check for any drivers that must be updated

Run IE without ad ons. Go to IE icon and chose that option

The prior suggestion should be tried if nothing else works. Run system restore from a point prior to the problem.

I just restored my system to the oldest possible, 25th of November and the problem was still there.

I also checked, there were none drivers that should be updated. I use Firefox, not IE.

I noticed that at the restore point, there was this error message on startup: "Could not launch program due to missing file sys16.dll" not word to word like that, but the same point.

Could someone possibly upload me their copy of sys16.dll on Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit version?

I've got the same problem. All of sudden Windows 7 takes about 45 minutes to start up and then it is so slow, I can't do anything. It would take an hour or more to run msconfig.System restore doesn't help. There's nothing wrong with my hardware. Looks like Microsoft has really screwed up the operating system that was supposed to finally work right. I'll be running Ubuntu from now on. I can't spend hours trying to get a new operating system to work right.

Run a full scan with Malwarebytes in safe mode, after updating it to get the latest definitions.
