Well, aside from that. This was a fun build and I would like to get a little more use out of it. I do have a laptop with the Quad Core i7-820QM w/8 G DDR3, so I'm not totally stuck in the past. But this thread dealt with the P4/HT and I want to get the best out of mine.
    So, back to my question,
how are you guys getting a performance of 3.2 and I can only get 1.7 ???

    A modern processor.
Of course, but this thread is about P4/HT and I would like to get as much performance as some of the other posters who got 3.2. So, how (other than the recommendation from logicearth) do I improve my 1.7 to a 3.2??

Only thing I noticed is that on my Dell P-IV the number of Processors is unchecked. Yours is checked at two.

    Good luck

    my guess
its not the processor getting the low score ( i myself am getting a 4.3 CPU score with the GP weighing me down to 3.2) but some other component...
the only guess would be from your specs would be your GPU but it can be something else...

You hit on something. When I uncheck it, it goes back to one. I tried going back to one, disabling the HT in the startup, then back, updated BIOS. Last check the performance was 1.6 (earlier it was 1.7) so I'm losing ground. I'll keep trying.
    Thanks
