    Help optimizing start up programs

I just bought a new Toshiba laptop with windows seven which is great so far, but being the optimization freak i am i was just wondering what programs i should and shouldn't remove from the start up menu here is the list.
    1. MyToshiba
    2. IgfxTray
    3. HotKeysCmds
    4. Persistence
    5. RtHDVCpl
    6. SynTPenh
    7. SVPWUTIL
    8. HWSetup
    9. KeNotify
    10. TPwrMain
    11. Smoothview
    12. 00TCrdMain
    13. ToshibaServiceStation
    14. TosSENotify
    15. Adobe Reader Speed Launcher
    16. Adobe ARM
    17. AVG9_Tray
A couple of them i know like obviously AVG9_Tray is my anti virus, but what can i get rid of to optimize my system without losing functionality of keys and things like that.

Google each one, see what they do, and decide if you can delete it from start-up without it halting your boot, or disabling your functions.

Just reformat with a fresh copy of 7.

Or get rid of these..most of them look unimportant or crap related to Toshiba. You can google any that you're not sure about to check and see what they do.

    3. HotKeysCmds
    4. Persistence
    6. SynTPenh
    7. SVPWUTIL

yea im might actually do a fresh install of windows 7 to get rid of all of the bloatware. How would i go about doing this though if the computer didnt come with any backups of windows 7. Every time i reformatted and installed a copy of Xp i had the discs. appreciate the help

No no, don't reformat. The restore image will only put the same crapware back onto the machine. Just get rid of everything there except the antivirus. Everything else is junk.

Hello Acid, and welcome to Seven Forums.

This link at Toshiba below can help show you how to, but it will only restore it back like it was the day you first turned the computer on with bloatware and all. I would recommend to create a set of recovery discs as well as a backup in case something happens to the hard drive and you ever want to be able to reinstall Windows 7 back to factory defaults again.

How to use the Toshiba HDD Recovery Utility

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Most of the items you have listed are seen in my lappy too. I disabled all. I would say, keep AVG9. Check if some of the services used by your lappy(Toshiba) is being used by you. If not, uncheck them.

    You are the best judge!!
