Stopping Defrag on SSD Drive

All,
I'm running Win 7 Ultimate x64 on a desktop with the OS loaded on an Intel 160GB G2 SSD as C:. I've noticed that Defrag is happening on the SSD drive. I've confirmed this in two ways: First, looking at the Last Run date in the Disk Defragmenter UI. The date associated with the SSD drive C: continues to move forward. Second, I've looked in the event log and have confirmed that there are messages stating the successful defragmentation on the C: drive.

I have 3 drives in my system. The SSD drive is C:. I have 2 WD 750GB drives as D: and E:. If I look at the Defragmentation Schedule UI, only drive D: and E: appear. Just to be safe I turned off Scheduled Defragmentation and Defragmentation has stopped on D: and E: but continues on C:.

Looking at the event log, there seems to be no discernable pattern as to when the defrag happens on the SSD:

12/17 9:49pm
12/16 7:13pm
12/15 11:13pm
12/14 10:33pm
...

I can't find any place to stop Defragmentation from happening on C:. Any suggestions?

Hi Mitchell, thanks for your reply. I hadn't gone into the task scheduler, so I just disabled the task in the task scheduler. I had previously turned of the Defrag schedule in the Defragmenter UI and that worked since my D: and E: drive were no longer getting defraged.

But the times that the SSD is being defraged don't seem to be associated with the Defrag task. The Defrag task runs once a week at 1AM Wed. The SSD drive is being defraged every day or two at no set time. I've tried looking for ways to turn off defragmentation off completely, but i haven't found a way yet.

There maybee several Trigger Rules written if you have a look around, you can select trigger then select properties in the right hand pane. Select trigger again then edit
then you can untick Enabled for each trigger that you want.
I still would have thought that disabling scheduled defrag from from the defragmenter would have stopped all scheduled runs though

I believe I found the culprit... It turns out that Norton Internet Security has a defragmentation program that runs on the boot volume. For those interested, the exact setting is: Idle Time Optimizer.

I disabled this feature.
