Synaptics Touchpad scroll feature not working

I have researched this problem quite a bit and tried several possible solutions that have worked for many users yet nothing had worked. I have tried several different drivers, tried tweaking settings with no solution in sight.

    I am using W7 build 7022.

    Can anyone advise?

Scratch that! I have gotten it solved. My problem was trying the Synaptics drivers. The Alps drivers work perfectly!

I just wanted to confirm that "jkm" was right. Installing ALPS drivers did help. I tried it on my ACER 5530G and from that time on my synaptics touchpad's scrolling feature started to work.

    Thanks "jkm" for your post.

It also requires having the touchpad software running at Startup in some cases. So if in msconfig>Startup and Services (after Hiding All MS Services) you keep a Clean Boot with only your AV, to spare Win7 a bunch of freeloaders on its back, you may need to go back into the Startup list to enable your touchpad software to get the scrolling and click-to-touch features. However the touchpad should work without the software starting with Windows, just from the driver.
