exactly what does increase an Aero score?

You will need a newer graphics card.
Yours seems to be an older card.
You say it has nothing to do with the graphic card.
But yet your score's lowest point is your graphics card.

What makes you think it doesn't have anything to do with your graphics card? In my experience the Aero score is directly related to the speed of the graphics card. I recently updated to a faster card and saw an appropriate increase in the score. It's as simple as that.

While it may not look any different, it destroys the performance of your pc.
The higher the score, the better your performance while on your desktop will be :)

How to edit, modify and change WEI score easily? Download and Open WinBubble > Specific Tab > Hacking WEI Score Button. That's it!
    The hack stuff: WinSAT saves the scores in a XML file located in the Windows\Performance\WinSAT\DataStore folder. Each time you perform benchmarking using WinSAT, it creates a new XML file and stores it in this folder. All you have to do is to open the latest XML file and edit it using WORDPAD.

I think any increases in Aero performance are pretty esoteric after clearing a very moderate bar. While the 'score' may go up, does the appearance? Aero doesn't look any different to me with 1GB of DDR3 than it did with 256MB of DDR.

So chasing a high WEI score for Aero is pretty pointless.

You are correct that raising the score doesn't change the appearance of Aero, however it does improve the performance - By that I mean the speed at which windows are drawn, animations such as minimizing and maximizing windows, etc. I upgraded recently from an Nvidia 6600GT to a 9600GT and the improvement on the desktop was very noticeable. By the way its' the chipset that makes the most difference, not the amount of memory.

Yes, but the gains are minimal and the risk of overheating and burning out the chipset are high. I doubt that you would see any difference.

It might help if you told us what graphics adapter you have in the computer.
