Lower processor score in WEI than expected

    Hello everyone,

I would like to know why I get a lower processor score in WEI for my processor with Intel E8400 as compared to E4600.

    My computers' spec:

    1st com:
    Intel E8400 @ 3.0GHz
    Asus P5KPL/EPU
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit
    WEI Processor Score: 5.5
.... (rest are not that important, i think)

    2nd com:
    Intel E4600 @ 2.4GHz
    Gigabyte 945GCM-S2L
OS: Used to run Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit
    WEI Processor Score: 5.8
    ....

All motherboard bios and intel chipset drivers are updated.

I know that WEI are not that accurate but I just want a general score of my system and I have seen other people's screenshot (with the E8400 processor) with a 6.5 processor score.

Does different motherboard affects the score?

GHz are not everything in a processor. There are other factors such as Cache, cooling and even Power Supply which can make a WEI score lower. Your motherboard may be the cause, however WEI is just a test. Your CPU will probably perform the same as your friends' CPU if they're both the same.

My other PC has a E8400 and shows a WEI of 6.4 or 6.5 ..

I'm Assuming you tried to re-run the assessment and get the same?

Whats it showing for RAM score?

    If it bugs you:

If i were you the first thing I would do is run IBT (max stress) for 5 passes and see what kind of scores it gets, and if it passes. (Even if stock speeds just to be sure the CPU/RAM is OK)

Watch the temps, make sure the CPU is not getting to hot, or throttling for example.

A pass with approx speed of 22-23GFPS is normal for a E8400.

If it fails or is really low score, possibly a setting, or problem w/board or chip.
If too hot and throttling, may just need to reseat H/S.

Others may disagree or have a better idea, but that would be my first step if your sure everything else is set correctly.
