Slow Shutdown with new User Account

I am just nearing the completion of my first pc build and the next barrier to overcome is slow shutdown speed. Everything was fine until I added another user account and tried to set the default location for files to my d: drive (RAID 10 format 4x1tb drives, the OS is on a SSD independent of the RAID). For some reason as soon as I try to direct the data files to the RAID it slows the shutdown to 10+ minutes. Bootup is fine at 40 seconds.

I have installed the SATA drivers during the OS install and it would appear the RAID has initialized using the downloaded software that came with the Motherboard

    (Motherboard = Gigabyte GA-x58a-ud7)

    ANY HELP GRATEFULLY RECEIVED!!

Not sure if this is it, but I recall hearing of issues with some Gigabyte RAID drivers and 64bit Win7...???

There have been many posts about problems concerning raid. The answer given by one Senior Member here is that raid is not very compatible with Win7. Based upon the problems that I have seen on these boards, I would agree. Although I have no first hand experience in this area.

    casey:

Have you tried disabling RAID in the BIOS? You may have to uninstall the RAID drivers afterwards... but that should work!
