The files for the system disk were missing, as I showed in my second post. How can running an admin account fix that?

Anyways the recovery disk is not really needed if you have a win7 setup disk, the tools are also on the standard setup disk.

Also make sure that your backup works by testing by moving a couple steps in the restore process. Mine didn't and I lost my system drive.

Sorry, I did not understand from your second post that the files were missing.

As for restore, I don't use Windows built-in backup because it doesn't encrypt the backup. I use Norton Ghost. I haven't tried a system disk restore under Windows 7 yet, although I did it many times during the beta testing days of XP. Ghost worked flawlessly every time. I also keep all my data on a D: partition. Whatever one uses, Silkman is right that backups should be tested before they are needed in real life.

    Hello Jakob,

If you like, you could use the ISO file and the link in OPTION ONE below to create a Windows 7 installation USB or DVD that can be used to boot to the "System Recovery Options" screen the same as a startup repair disc.

USB Windows 7 Installation Key Drive - Create

    Hope this helps, :)

    hi shawn,

after reinstalling the HP Recovery Partition i'm now able to create the Recovery Disc.
I will now try to create a Recovery USB Stick.
