    Time will not update

    Hi

I dont know if this is the right place to post this but i cant seem to get my computer time to update automatically. It starts to fall behind within minutes of updating it and i cant seem to figure out why. My initial thought was ofcourse the CMOS battery but the bios time was fine and also it was only losing time when in windows so it couldnt be that.

Any help would be appreciated, ive been having a lot of problems with this build.

    Thanks

Do you have Windows set to automatically synchronize with a time server? If so, try a different time server.

Yea I have tried all of the time servers listed in the list. I timed a minute on the computer on a stopwatch and one minute on the computer = 1min 25secs on the stop watch. So i dont think it is having a problem updating windows but is having a problem keeping time.

Note: I just checked the bios clock and that is the correct time and it is second perfect when put against the stop clock

Is this a new build? If so, perhaps the quartz crystal on the MB may be bad... get a new MB.

Well i thought abt that seeing as it is a new build. I looked into it a bit further and it turns out it is quite often caused my AMD Cool N Quiet and a setting called C1E. I disabled those and it is fine now but i would like to know why it doesnt want to work with these settings on. My motherboard is an Asus M3N72-T, so if you have any run ins with this board or know how to get it working with these settings then please let me know because this build has been quite a pain in the arse compared to previous ones.

Sounds like a flaw in the Asus board. I've used Cool n Quiet in a few boards without time errors. Got the latest bios?

Yea i updated it when i first got the motherboard because i was having other problems that i have since sorted out. Asus dont really have any drivers specifically for Windows 7 and these would probably help. Hopefully they will bring some out soon. Might send them an email about it.

Where did you buy, newegg? My experience with online retailers is that once you get an RMA and return it, they will just send you a replacement. They arent (in most cases) going to test and conform the MB has a problem!

Return it and get what you paid for: A fully functioning MB that keeps time accurately like the rest of us!
