Core i7 - RAM voltages above 1.65 are considered dangerous.
I was going to build something along those lines as well, except I went for the Core i7 965 EE (won it on eBay for ~$650 USD) but now that eVGA has released the Confidential mobo I am holding off for a bit before I finish the build - the confi board looks even sexier than the original X58 SLI.... | My System Specs |

Hi, Bloke I tried to change my settings in Bios to what you said ,1800 and 1.9 v but when I do it and reboot the PC just sits there doing nothing, and eventuallly I have to press the restart button ,so when it boots up the second time it gives me a message saying that the OC did not work, and to go back in to change settings, back to default,I am not happy with the 4594.53 mb/s,as you said, how can people with less ram and DDR2 ram be getting a much higher score than people with DDR3,this is what it says on the side of my 4 gigs ram, XMS3-1333 1024mb 1333mzh 9 9 9 24 1.5v ver3.1 0809115 any sugesstions as to how to get this fixed ,because with my figures ,my ram must be UNDERCLOCKED by a mile ,Thanks.

you will need to increase your ram timings to gain a higher ddr clock, as for your voltage, it is alot lower than mine, if i were you i would use google, type in the exact model number of the ram module and see what others in forums have gotten with the same ram. but be careful when increasing your ddr3 voltage, it has the same rule as cpu vcore, too much can kill it. with that said i woulnt go higher than 1.7volt. mine is default 1.9v and im at 2.0v for 2000mhz, but im not going over 2.0v.
once you can get it to post at its highest speed, fiddle with the timings to get them lower, you will HAVE to use 2T if you want to try for higher frequencies. then once you can get your optimal timings and stress tested stable (i use intel burn test as it will utilise the most amount of ram and it puts the cpu through an intense linpack cycle, i have never seen my vdroop drop so much until i used this program, which prooves it stresses it better and faster than P95. heres the link and heaps of info on it IntelBurnTest - The new stress-testing program - XtremeSystems Forums ) once stable, try dropping your ddr3 voltage bit by bit and stress testing each time you drop it. once it fails post or stressing, take it up 2 settings (to allow for any voltage drop when under high use).
let me know how you go, for me overclocking my ram only gave me about 200mb/s increase but you might do better (wont surprise me with my luck)
on another note, i reinserted my sli connector and it boosted 3dmark06 score by 5000 points. lol but PC Pitstop scores did not increase? ive ordered one of those asus sli flex cables as my pcb sli connector is really hard to connect as my tuner card is in the way. which is another reason why i disconnected it. Hi Thanks for your reply ,Iwill try all that you said, but I have to be honest with you ,I haven,t OCed before so I am a bit of a virgin,so it will keep me occupied for a while doing all the above ,when I figure out what half of what you said means, ,ok here we go ,you might not hear from me for a while, but I will let you know what's happening, again, Thanks for your help. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self Build 64bit OS Vista Ult64, Win7600 CPU Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2400 MHz 64bit OS Motherboard Asus P5E3 Deluxe WiFi @p 64 bit OS Memory 4096 MB DDR3-SDRAM Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 3870 Series x2 Crossfired Sound Card Realtek on board Monitor(s) Displays Samsung SyncMaster - 23 inches Screen Resolution 1680x1050 pixels at 60 Hz in True Colors Keyboard Wireless Mouse Wireless PSU Cooler Master 1000w Case Cooler Master Cosmos 1000.
