I doubt it hey, the main reason I'm going for a tri-core is because my board doesn't have very good support for the higher-spec CPUs.. I can only run AMD CPUs of 125w or lower, and even the 125w processors are not recommended by XFX. Seeing as many of the Phenom II x4 CPUs are 125w to 140w, I want to try avoiding putting too much strain on my board.

Besides, a 720BE will give me 3 cores at 2.8GHz with an unlocked multiplier, which means my CPU will be way better than my current 5400+ and I can finally unleash the full potential of my Corsair RAM. I know these babies can do so much more than 8600MB/s...

It's better, but I'm still not happy with it. And I'm really baffled by the seeming 3 or 4 gig limit on RAM.
Unsure which exactly options you do have on your Tyan BIOS, but I strongly believe you should have somewhere an option to map memory past 3Gb.

Double check on your motherboard manual if you do have such option. I have used a couple dual and quad opterons in the past and some of them had all the way up to 64Gb RAM fully visible to the system.

Was pulling 21,500-ish @ 4.0ghz with HT enabled:

Disabled hyper threading and went up to 4.2ghz:

As you can see, outside of of Winsat - the 'performance' difference is virtually negligible.

Maybe if you run it a couple more times it might get to 35k

Went up 2k from the first to the third run.

That's the highest score I've seen yet.
