What FSB r u using? Also timings? Your FSB will have the greatest increase and from there u can increase ur mem speed a little and then fine tune timings to squeeze a bit more mbps. Sometimes its not worth the unstableness to tweak the timings tho. Its been bout a year since i played with ddr2. But once its set up u should be getting around 5-7gbps.
I already had to tweak the RAM and FSB voltages to get this machine stabilized. I was getting BSOD at the default settings. The RAM is spec'd to run at 2.0 - 2.1 v, and was only getting 1.8 by default, and I raised the FSB by 0.06v (one click in my BIOS), and since then its been 100% stable. If I've gotta tweak 'em some more, so be it... its kind of fun!
Check these out and tell me what you think...
The SPD tab says I'm running at 400 Mhz. I checked with the g.skill users forum, and the mods there insist that is not a true reading, the RAM is actually running at spec (533Mhz), and CPU_Z doesn't actually measure RAM speed, it just reads the number off of a table in the RAM. I dunno if he's right or not.
there is a simple answer to that, look in that persons specs, and take note of the amd phenom. amd have an internal memory controller in the cpu so there is no relying on a separate motherboard controller, intel has only just started using this technology in the new i7 chips, if you see someone with an i7 cpu they will have around 17+gbps, plus the i7 motherboards have triple channel opposed to dual which is another good boost. the cpu will process everything faster than any other component in a computer, so you can see why having a cpu internal memory controller is a rather large advantage on benchmarks like these. still i am a intel boy.lol
the best i have achieved with ddr3 was around 8900mbps with my super talent project X 1800mhz 8/8/8/24/2T @ 2001mhz 8/7/6/18/2T, they are the same chips as the corsair dominators, but half the price, but i needed 8gb and at the time only had 4gb and could not find the same ram to add another 2 sticks of 2gb so i bought some cheap g.skill 4x2gb sticks 1600 9/9/9/24/2T and so far i have gotten them around 8200mbps @ 1680mhz 9/8/8/16/1T. great performer at a really good price. i was hesitant on g.skill but am very happy with them. one thing i did notice is my system takes longer to show the post screen when powering on with 8gb opposed to 4gb ram. strange.
U want to go into ur bios and increase the fsb value from 1066 to maybe 1333. This will give u 333fsb x 9multi = around 3ghz but u will need to run the fsb and mem UNLINKED as ddr2 wont run at 1333mhz. Urs is rated at 1066 so u will have to manually adjust the mem speed. The q6600 should be able to hit 3.6ghz on air as long as its not a stock cooler. It may take a little playing around but it should increase ur winsat mem score a bit. The cpu-z spd tab is simply a table and does not show the actual values.
