Tested is the speed I run at everyday, which is underclocked at 1,356.6MHz to get a stable 7-7-7-20 timing. Around 1,500MHz and I have to set my timing to 7-7-7-24 to be stable. At 1,600MHz, I'd have to set my timing to 8-8-8-24 or higher to be stable (I never up the voltage, period).

Pure bandwidth isn't everything, though. It's all about finding a good balance. Latency plays a big part too. I could crank mine past 1,600MHz and get a higher score, but transferring smaller bits of data around in memory would be slower.

usually there is a tolerance with the ram voltage like mine is 1.6-1.8 if using 8gb and 1.5-1.6 for 4gb thats from the manufacturers specs, so i run at 1.75 and i can overclock my ram with lower timings than the specs thats on the box. like it says 9/9/9/24/2t 1.6ghz im running 9/9/9/18/1t 1.65ghz.

i know what you mean about the balance though, that can take a while to get right, i just usually set the fsb, ram speed then up the voltage within safe specs according to the manufacturer then work on the timings. 1T cycle is always a good boost if you can get it stable.

thats some awsome score though! some day i will build an i7 when they drop in price, by then the 8 core intels should be arriving

Hey nice, what makes the most difference for the memory score (and result as well), is it only higher MHz or does amount increase it?

It's a little frustrating with the i7 since they really want to keep the voltage in a narrow window (since the memory controller is on the CPU now).

You can still bump things a fraction. But it sure is nice to get the latest hardware and have it fast without any tweaking. :)

Thanks! The memory I have was on sale on Newegg at the time. It was by far the cheapest for 6GB of DDR3-1600 between Corsair, OCZ, and Kingston (the top three bands I buy). Kingston is superb for stock speed performance, and OCZ and Corsair are better overclockers, but these OCZ sticks work great at stock and below speeds too. I'm impressed with them.
