It would make it a lot easier if we knew if it were the software or the hardware. We know that you had this problem with XP and 7. I have to go with the hunch that it is a hardware problem.

How much memory do you have?

How do you get the mouse and monitor to work?

Take the other tests and we will see what they say.

Do you have your 7 DVD?

I got 2 gb ram I have updated the drivers for the monitors already today they are current to win 7 the mouse I had to use the default windows drivers because it is told old to figure out which model it is, I took it from my old comp which was a Dell probably 8 years old. yes I have my win 7 dvd. I did the clean boot already like I said before I couldn't end the one mcaffe services other than that I tried to put it in sleep with no services or startup items and it still hung up. I didn't disable the Microsoft services and try however.

Based upon everything that you told me, I think that it is your computer and only 2gb of ram that cause the problem. To solve it you have to find out what is using ram at start up. My guess is that it is Mcafee. I would try to find a way to disable it.

I dont agree, I think its the age, and litttle memory. When it boots it need ram, you do not have enough.

But you may get other ideas from here, too. I can only give my opinion.

I cannot guarantee, but with 2gb ram, you will probalby run better.

But, be careful. You must make sure you get exactly the right type if you are going to mix and match. Many people just buy all they will use at once. If you dont want to do that, unless you really are experienced with this sort of thing, speak to an expert before you buy. Things like frequency have to be precise. You cant just go and say give me 2 gb of memory.

    Hope it all works out.
