If you're thinking of replacing the mobo anyway, you may take a shot at flashing the latest BIOS version. It can be found here. http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sear...p+Board+DG31PR

Also there are Intel instructions on doing so. This latest version came out in November.

There is a later BIOS version for that mobo on Intel's site. If you're thinking of replacing your mobo anyway, you might give it a shot.

For some reason the above post took a while to show up. Sorry about the double message.

Go to START >> RUN >> msconfig , press enter

    Go to the BOOT tab.

    Click on the Advance Options...

i see that you have Quad core...

    So enable "Number of Processors"
    Select All 4.

    Hit okay....

Then check, "Make all boot settings permanent"

    hit apply, then okay.

and reboot. That should speed it up too.

Does this option really help the boot time? What are the advantages and drawbacks for doing this.

Its a myth - that option can be used to limit processor's or threads at startup - ignore it unless you need to use it.

You don't need to use a cracked version to get 32 bit, if you already have 64 bit Ultimate license.

You're entitled to use either 64 or 32 bit with your version's license. You can change to the other at any time. If you need to download an ISO, don't get a cracked one, and scan it with AV and Spybot while extracted.

Don't risk these problems using a cracktivation when you own a license already.

The fact that it will boot fine in Safe Mode means it is likely not the mobo, but a driver or app. The troubleshooting process may need to be organized better.
