Hide Partition I recently install a copy of my OS to another partition as a backup in case its needed. How can I hide it from explorer on my normal OS WITHOUT REMOVING THE DRIVE LETTER which is currently set to W. Iv tried using the registry method with no success.
I used the decimal value 4194304 which I am pretty sure is right for the letter W. | My System Specs |

Why don't you just image the backup to an external drive. Then you can pull it in any time and it will not clutter up your system. http://www.sevenforums.com/software/...e-macrium.html | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

I already use norton ghost. But sometimes i want to replace system files to customize my system and once i rename them to backup, i cant copy it back in, so I now use this to copy system files onto it. Also if its just 1 system file missing, I dont want to run a whole backup, i would just rather copy it from this to my real installation. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Toshiba Satellite L505D-S9565 OS Windows 7 Home Premium x64, Mac OS X 10.6.2 x64 CPU AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core 2.1 GHz Motherboard Toshiba Built-In with Insyde H20 BIOS 1.40 Memory 4 GB DDR2 800 MHz Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD Mobility 3100 Graphics 256MB to 1468 MB Shared Sound Card Realtek Mobile ALC272 HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays 15.6" TFT LCD with TruBrite, Samsung 1080p HDTV Screen Resolution 1366x768, 1920x1080 Keyboard Built-in Mouse Build-in Symantics SmartTouch Pad PSU N/A Case N/A Cooling Built-in/Open window in winter :P Hard Drives ❶:Main: Toshiba 250 GB SATA 5400 RPM Internet Speed 55 MB/sec Down, 9 MB/sec Up Other Info ❷:Backup: Seagate FreeAgent Desk USB 2.0 5400 RPM

You need not run a whole backup. You can pick the files from the Ghost image just as well. But as Greg says, the System File Checker can do that for you too - in case you have not tweaked your system. If you did tweak your system and replaced original system files, then SFC will undo your tweaks. That happened with my Vista sidebar on Windows 7 when I was playing around with SFC - it rolled 95 files back. Fortunately it was easy to fix. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 All times are GMT -5.
