I have read all availble regarding the Windows 7 sleep issues. I solved mine by disabling all devices (except my mouse) from being able to wake the computer. I used the following powercfg suggestions to find out what was enabled and then went to Device Manager to keep the items from waking the computer.

Windows 7 will not sleep or not sleeping

I found that my realtek ethernet hardware and my Saitek keyboard were waking the computer. Now that only the mouse is activated to wake, there are no more issues. Computer sleeps fine/wakes fine.

I have found Windows 7 will not sleep if you have an 'Unsaved Theme'. Normally that is pretty obvious but sometimes an unsaved theme will lurk behind a costumed theme and will only reveal itself after you resave (right click->save theme) and then delete the newly created copy.

I already have that unchecked - I'm afraid that's not the fault.

The powercfg -lastwake command returns basically nothing:

Code:
Wake History Count -1
Wake History[0]
Wake Source Count -0
The problem is that the computer won't enter the Sleep mode when idle.

I got the exact same results from the powercfg command. I will try to change the background image on my desktop. I vaguely recall this is when the problem started since I changed my desktop background image a while ago.

Anybody found another solution lately?

OK I found something that works! I changed the power plan to "Balanced" instead of "Power4Gear Quiet Office" and that stopped the problem. I don't have time to figure out why that power plan that worked before does not work now. I'll just go with this for now....

Thanks!

Hello -

I have encountered a similar prob, although -

I have a program that prevents mine from going to sleep. Its a program by western digital, that backs up my comp in the background, so it runs in the system tray.

When I quit this program, it sleeps perfectly, when I re-enable the 'wd anywhere backup' into the system tray, it wont allow the comp to sleep :/
