I really appreciate your assistance, whs - but that's the problem in a nutshell..
I can't access the drive at all, by any means..

..right-clicking on it freezes the program
- ie, Windows Explorer for instance, just gives a (Not Responding..) error

Disk Manager also just grinds to a halt as soon as I try to highlight the SSD (G: )..
- my friend is coming round this week, we'll review the situation thoroughly after removal and testing in another PC..

- it's all very strange, as though the SSD has locked up while in the RAW format..
- if there is indeed a recycle bin allocated to each drive , then this would explain the erratic behaviour of the delete process..
- the drive isn't playing ball, with the OS - hence the Recycle Bin slowdown..

- may well be a RMA job - I'll get back to you later with developments..

What?! No AHCI? That's completely opposite of the Tony recommends over on the forums....

Hmm...try turning it on and see what happens.

Yeah, you can uninstall the AHCI driver from Device Manager to turn it off within Windows.

Maybe you should mail the disk to OCZ and have them check it out. But first go on their help line and create a ticket stating the problem. These guys bailed me out once. I sent the SSD to them, they fixed it and mailed it back - no charge.

thanks, whs
- my friend is the person who originally built my system, so he will be aware of the procedure..

oddly enough, the twin 60G OCZ's weren't in my original specs: I wanted Intel, this was intended to be a money-saver..

on reflection, perhaps I should have stuck to my guns and insisted on my original specifications..

never mind, what's done is done - I shall post back with details of how things go from here..

now let's see if OCZ's customer service department can come up with the goods, if required..

update..

this this the message I get when I try to format SSD(G: )

Name: dgformat.jpg
Views: 6
Size: 61.0 KB

- at least the RAID driver problem is solved for now
- I simply disabled it via Device Manager

- did a CMOS reset to see if the mobo might correct to situation, but no joy on re-boot..
- as far as I can tell, the drive itself is malfunctioning..

- laters..

Something seems to be wrong with the SSD. This would not be the first one. About a year ago, I had to send one back because it was defunct.

- managed to remove the errant SSD via the "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" icon in the apptray..
- and, guess what, everything has returned to normal..!!

Recycle Bin now functions as normal and all Office progs are running perfectly..
so the problem MUST be a duff SSD - mate calling round today - hopefully to get replacement via OCZ

BTW I have installed AHCI and it works perfectly - no issues at all..
