Disk defragmenter scheduled using another program

I'm trying to run Disk Defragmenter and just the message 'Disk defragmenter was scheduled using another program'.

Can't think what that program could be. How can I find out?

    Thanks.

Its probably the A/V. Many A/V, also have a computer maintenance function. I know for a fact Mcafee, is one. It is a program that is not part of the OS. Only task scheduler makes scheduled defragmentation schedules.

Check your A/V, look for any maintenace features and check there. In addition, if you have any installed programs that include maintenance features or may include such features look there.

Yes, it could be, although I'm using MSE and I don't think that has a maintenance function.

Is there any way of checking to see what has got it scheduled?

I'm having the same issue now and even I have MSE installed. How can I check whether it's scheduled by MSE only or some other program?

Take a look in the Task Scheduler. Also, go through this.

    Fixed

If you are having this problem and you, like me, don't want M$ totally controlling your system, you have most likely changed the scheduled task for defragging to anything other than letting it run sometime in the future or you have disabled it.

Go into Task Scheduler and click the right pointing arrow next to Task Scheduler Library, then the one next to Microsoft, then the one next to Windows. Find Defrag, double-click on the task in the center pane, click the Triggers tab and change the task time to run sometime in the future (Because I run it manually I tried setting a past date but it didn't work). Or if you, like I, disabled it, right-click the task in the upper center pane and choose Enable.

    WaaLaa!
