Windows 7 on Partion C and XP on Partion D

    Hi All,

I want to get rid of the XP partition D: on my HDD and expand my Windows 7 partition C:. The only guides I can find to resize partitions is when XP is on C and 7 is on D.

Can I use the same steps as described on TechRepublic to resize the partition or can I use the manager built into Windows 7?

I know I need to move the Boot manager out of the XP partition onto the 7 Partition. Anything else?

    Hello,

Could you please post a screenshot of your Disk Management window, using the snipping tool found in the start menu?

You should be able to just delete the XP partition, and run Startup Repair 3 times until it gives Windows 7 its own boot loader.

Let's wait and see your disk management window first, though.

    Thanks,
    ~JK

    Hi Jonathan-King,

As I was taking the screen shot of the disk management window I decided to follow the instructions I found. I made a full dual partition backup of my system and I have managed to successfully remove the XP partition.

Thanks for the willingness to help! Much appreciated!
