    List of performance tools

I want to collect a list of free performance tools for everyone to benefit to speed up their overall computer enjoyment. Must work with Windows 7.
So far I have two tools.
    1. Smart Defrag
    2. Download Accelerator Plus

Be careful what you recommend, allot of these sorts of programs contain malware and other nasties.

    I like Auslogics Boostspeed

Don't worry I've used them extensively, and scanned them with numerous programs.

    Glary Utilities
    Revo uninstaller
    Ccleaner

All clean and can be obtained via download .com

Mr Grim don't you have to pay for boost speed?

Yes you do have to pay for it but there is a 30 day trial I think as well, but maybe I should have read the first post better although it would be better if it was stated in the thread title as well.

The trouble I find with these sort of programs, is that they rarely do what they are claimed to do, and you never know what its fully doing to your system as a result, plus most are better tweaked manually by the user.

Yes, that's my idea, a list of ones that we know work as stated, compatible with Seven, and free.

Steer clear of reg defraggers as it messes windows 7 up.

And I would hardly call DLA a 'performance' tool - if you visit Comparison of download managers - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia you'll find a nice list of free, non-ad-ware DLMs that works correctly.

A lot of folks are showing preference for Orbit, but it is missing one *sorely* needed feature - when you DL something and it already exists, you can either re-write or rename - and I prefer being able to make the choice on the fly - so I prefer to use Free Download Manager myself.

For the more technical, no list of Tools for Windows 7, (or XP or Vista), would be complete without the Sysinternals suite.

Some of the tools are a little scary but worth the download IMO
