Minimum Processor State
Hello everyone,
First post here, first things first, Hi!
Secondly, I'm experiencing an issue with my laptop running 7 Home Premium 64. My model/make is NV5927U/Gateway and I am experiencing some pretty annoying issues.
Anyways, I am hearing "cpu whine" or more correctly, toroidal coils which are vibrating very rapidly causing interference with the speakers. My question is this:
Whenever my processor goes into the sleep state with no jobs, that's when the computer whines, however; when the processor is actually doing something the whine goes away entirely. I looked online and found solutions regarding rmclock but I'd prefer finding some more natural solution.
I went into the power management and found "Minimum Processor State" which I believe should fix my problem since it will keep the processor at a higher clock. No dice. After looking at the cpu utilization it seems as if the cpu completely ignores this minimum processor state setting and lets the cpu go to 0 anyways. Is there a known bug with 7 that allows this? Can one of you confirm that the cpu simply goes to zero despite any setting you enter?
Thanks for your help, and please let me know if I should provide you with anymore information. Yes I've updated drivers / windows updates.
