yeah i keep seeing threads like this and keep printing the soloustion, very strange issue, but yes it is caused by SOLID color background... not heard anything from MS about a fix, you would hope they are aware of it

    Unbelievable

Same problem, with vista to 7 upgrade, had solid background color selected and windows 7 was taking 20+ seconds to login, thankfully I read this post, changed it to background image and login takes 2 seconds!

What on earth are Microsoft doing....

Now if only I could get the old start menu back....

    slowest boot ever

You are all lucky. I just put my system together and boot to pw is 5.5 MINUTES! I First tested system with UBUNTU disk - no problems. Installed W7 Ultimate and updated drivers for MB, LAN, and graphics card with latest certified drivers. I am ready to install Norton 360. I have a wireless keyboard and mouse that go wacky once in a while (MS 1000). I'll try disabling legacy USB and use PS2 adapter. I don't know if that will work on wireless combo into one ps2 port. I only have one. I'll keep trying the tips you guys come up with.
