Problem w/ creating recovery disc in Recovery Manager

I am running windows 7 on my laptop. I has windows vista before the upgrade. I had recovery discs for windows vista created from the recovery manager. I tried to make discs for windows 7. I would like to know why it won't let me make a disc for windows 7 because if I had trouble and needed to put in the recovery discs I wouldn't want to use the ones i had for windows vista. what should i do? here are screenshots to show what happens when i try to create the discs for windows 7.

HP PC Recovery Disc Creator, is for your HP Vista only, not for UpGrade of Win 7.

    Try this:

Backup Complete Computer - Create an Image Backup

It's because , inexplicably, HP only allow one set of recovery discs to be created from each machine.

I read somewhere about deleting some files to convince it they hadn't already been run off.

Can't recall what it was now , as I never have any intention of buying/relying on a mass market machine.

If I can dig it up - will post back.

In any case, you are better off making your own.

You can do it as often as you like with this great free app:

Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Free Edition

    Remembered it now.

Go to folder options and make sure Hidden files are showing, also untick "Hide protected operating system files ", Apply, OK.

Find all instances of the file hpcd.sys.

    Delete or rename them.

    That's it.

That will only make HP/Compaq Vista recovery disks, OP has UpGrade to Win 7.

    Yes, I know.

That info is for anyone who wants to run off another set.

They might have lost/ damaged the Vista set, and need another ( just in case).

Alternatively, those who buy an HP machine with 7 pre installed can run off the 7 HP recovery discs more than once.

Not sure why you would want to tbh - it is better to make your own every now and again so they are up to date.

3rd party free apps. ( such as the one I posted earlier ) are much, much better than the one included in 7.

My W 7 install with Microsoft on the line suggested I do the one time Repair W7 32. Win 7 can do the repair install and not lose everything. See instructions at Seven Forums. It works if you follow instructions exactly. (Do not set as clean install), It worked great for me. Best rid your computer of Hp stuff as suggested. I had to list my computer as a custom when I tried Driver Whiz updates. It was recognized as the old Vista and really mess up the drivers download. Avie:)
